From outstanding customer service to accurate account bidding, Jani-King franchisees must be at the top of their game to beat out the competition and earn new business. This month’s Crown Club winners, Shawn and Carrie Huget from Lafayette/Lake Charles, LA, give us their best advice for signing new accounts and growing their Jani-King franchise.
Five Key Tips for Signing New Business:
1. Relationships; building relationships is key in selling accounts. The customer has to know and trust you.
2. Persistence; sometimes, making the sale takes a long time. Don’t give up. Keep at it, keep visiting, keep strengthening that relationship.
3. Referrals; referrals are extremely valuable. Have your current customers help you grow. Ask them for a letter of recommendation.
4. Industry knowledge; know what you’re selling. Be able to answer questions customers may have.
5. Good attitude; this is probably the most important attribute. A smile and a nice word take you a long way.

The Rio 2016 Olympics have now come to a close and we are so excited and proud to see great things from the USA Olympic Track and Field team. We are very proud to have been able to be behind the scenes as the event janitorial provider at the Trials to select the team that represented us in Brazil. Jani-King Oregon would like to personally thank AA Environmental, Inc., one of our fabulous Jani-King of Eugene-Salem franchises, for another successful Track & Field Olympic Trials. TrackTown16 was a great success for Jani-King as a whole because of the outstanding commercial cleaning service and support Ed and Michelle Powell provided to The University of Oregon, Track Town Events, and Nike.
This year was unlike 2008 and 2012 because of the additional events that were happening in Eugene that AA Environmental also were providing cleaning services for at the same time. During the 10-day Olympic Trial event they also serviced 5 Eugene Emerald home games at PK Park, 2 concerts at the Cuthbert Amphitheater, 2 events at the Club Level in Autzen Stadium, a youth volleyball camp at Matthew Knight Arena, and a Kiss Concert at Matthew Knight Arena which ended in shooting confetti cannons with 150 lbs. of confetti inside the arena.
Thousands of hours were worked by their employees over the 10-day stretch and every event ended successfully. Those involved with the event were so happy with the service they would like Jani-King to provide service for other events they have in the Portland area.
The Jani-King brand, as a whole, is much stronger in Oregon after the great service you provided. We love our franchisees and are so thankful for the work you all do; you make Jani-King who we are!

When asked what makes him successful, James Avrose Martin, this month’s Crown Club Winner from the Greenville-Spartanburg region, didn’t hesitate to say that his own ‘innerdrive’ is the key.
With a brand new account & the Crown Club honors under his belt, it’s hard to dismiss that philosophy.
“The new account is in Westminster, SC, which is about an hour northeast of Greenville,” said Martin. “I had built a relationship with a gentleman that worked there and when they decided to go out for bid, he thought of me and my Jani-King franchise. With the help of the regional office, I was able to measure and propose a competitive, winning bid.”
Martin invested in his Jani-King franchise in 2013, learning of the opportunity through a friend who was also a Jani-King franchisee. While Martin hit the ground running, cleaning accounts by himself at the beginning, it wasn’t long before he built up a staff of 11 workers. Now, Martin sees a bright future by retaining customers and setting his sights on more large accounts.
As for how he plans to retain accounts and grow his business, Martin sticks to the same philosophy as many of our previous Crown Club winners; “the customer is always right,” exclaims Martin.
Martin also believes in the everyday support of the regional office and says that the biggest benefit to his Jani-King franchise is the flexibility of being a business owner.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Int’l Speedway has announced a multi-year partnership with Jani-King, the world’s largest commercial cleaning franchise company.
As part of the partnership, Jani-King will serve as the Official Cleaning Company of Daytona Int’l Speedway and the Daytona 500.
The partnership enables Jani-King to be associated with the historic 2016 Daytona 500, the first to be held at the Speedway’s new motorsports stadium (as part of the DAYTONA Rising project). Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Through the partnership, Jani-King will receive brand exposure via sponsor signage at the “World Center of Racing” and the ability to use the DIS and event marks for promotional purposes. In addition, Jani-King will receive corporate hospitality opportunities for entertaining guests during Speedweeks.
“We are excited about developing this new partnership with Jani-King,” said Daytona Int’l Speedway President Joie Chitwood III. “The Daytona 500 in 2016 will be a historic event and Jani-King’s services will be critical as we welcome guests to experience the new motorsports stadium for the first time.”
